The Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S) division is seeking a Senior Production Support Mechanical Engineer to fill an On-Site position at our Dallas, TX location. This position resides in RI&S Engineering within the Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) supporting the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems (ISRS) Mission Area. We are looking for self-starting candidates to perform mechanical design and documentation of electro-mechanical assemblies, coordinate with and visit suppliers throughout the US, trouble-shoot production system failures, and support our manufacturing facility in Forest, MS.
The candidate is expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program and functional leadership to ensure the overall design goals are met. The candidate will work within a large multi-disciplined team of engineers with the responsibility for housing design, equipment packaging, liquid cooling systems, and interconnect layouts. The candidate may manage projects under a Lead Engineer, while exercising latitude in presenting technical solutions to the Leadership Team. The position will require frequent interaction with the IPTL, PM, Supply Chain, and external personnel. This position will require Company travel up to 35%.
Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management. Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:
Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Responsibilities include:
Review CAD Technical Data Packages and Engineering Change Notices for validity
Resolution of issues on production lines and with suppliers
Failure analysis / root cause determination and corrective action implementation
Mentor early in career engineers with design standards and best practices
Lessons learned documentation and future system improvements.
Support our manufacturing facility in Forest, MS
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years professional experience in a mechanical or related field
Knowledge of materials and fabrication methods
Working knowledge of GD&T principles and their application for design documentation and fabrication
Familiarity with PTC Creo CAD software (or similar CAD tools)
Experience interpreting Engineering Drawings and Assembly Instructions
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to draft communications, create and deliver presentations.
U.S. Citizenship status is required. This position requires a Secret Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance
Company travel up to 35% will be expected.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience designing, testing and/or supporting aerospace/defense-related products
Experience with Airborne Radar and/or Sensor Systems
Experience with PRISM, SAP, and CMES (or other production documentation systems)
Experience in developing and/or implementing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for systems or sub-systems
Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance
Required Education:
College level degree from an ABET accredited university with a major in Mechanical Engineering or other related field.
Desired Education (including Major): Master’s degree from an ABET accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or another related field.
As a Defense Contractor, there are specific programs requiring a certain level of Security Clearance and Special access for assigned staff. The selected candidate will be required to secure these accesses. Not
being able to secure the Interim Security Clearance needed for this position may result in an offer of employment being rescinded. Due to U.S. government contract requirements sole U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates with dual citizenship will not be considered.
