Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation d/b/a Collins Aerospace has an opening for a Senior Engineer, Systems Engineering in Rockford, IL. This is a hybrid position that requires working in the Rockford, IL facility at least 2 days per week and allows working remotely up to 3 days per week.  Up to 5-10% domestic and international travel is required to cover visits to customers/suppliers for technical coordination meetings, test support, training etc.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Executes objectives for requirements management, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, evaluation measurements, and other disciplines for large or complex projects.
  • Monitors the cost, effectiveness, and reliability of activities and recommend modifications to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that standards are met.
  • Manages work processes, optimization methods, and risk management tools for large or complex projects.
  • Researches and evaluates investments or changes in technology, resources, procedures, equipment, systems, or other assets to improve the quality of the organization's systems products and services.
  • Provides analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and develops verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
  • Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs architectural exploration.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least a master’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or a related field and at least 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer within the aerospace domain. In the alternative, a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years of progressive experience as a Systems Engineer within the aerospace domain would be acceptable.
  • At least 3 years of development experience in MATLAB Simulink, ARINC 615 compliant for Electrical Power Distribution System
  • At least 3 years of experience with MBIL/Thomahawk/CASIL Test Equipment for Electric System
  • At least 3 years of experience with directing and strategic management of System Engineering Development Life Cycle, specification, integration, design, verification, and problem troubleshooting
  • Domain knowledge of ATA CHAPTER 24 [ELECTRICAL POWER], Aerospace standards like ARP4754 and DO178B/C
