Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation d/b/a Collins Aerospace has multiple openings for a Senior Engineer, Software Engineering in Rockford, IL. This is a hybrid position that requires working onsite in Rockford, IL at least 2 days per week and allows remote work up to 3 days per week.
Travel is required to supplier and customer sites, including travel to India. Frequency is typically once a year or less.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Conducts and coordinates moderately complex tests for control and diagnostic systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research in assisting equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software to develop software engineering activities.
- Analyzes system capabilities and determines end user needs to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements and input data acquisition to ensure current and future needs of the business are met.
- Ensure hardware and software standards are met.
- Design and implement build procedures that are used to support hardware and software product development and use.
- Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
- Train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
Required Qualifications:
- At least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- At least 5 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer in the aerospace industry
- At least 5 years of experience with the full software lifecycle for safety critical applications following DO-178 or similar industry standards and participating in Stage of Involvement audits
- At least 5 years of experience developing software architectures and requirements using tools such as Telelogic Doors and change management using tools such as Telelogic Synergy
- At least 5 years of experience developing embedded software using the C programing language
- At least 5 years of experience working in lab environments using in circuit emulators/target system debuggers and computer assisted test stand tools including Ashling Pathfinder, uHSIT and SITE test environments
- At least 3 years of experience with real-time embedded operating systems such as CEI and low level OS Platform integration, board support package integration (device drivers, I/O)
- At least 3 years of experience working with Generator and/or Bus Power Control software using Texas Instruments digital signal processors (DSP) such as TMS320F2812 and microcontrollers such as the PowerPC line from Freescale
