Job Description
Pratt & Whitney (P&W) is seeking an Senior Engineer (P3) in the Test Engineering Analysis (TEA) Sub-discipline in the Test & Validation Engineering Group, responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Provide engineering support for development engine tests and functional validation across the P&W product lines (Commercial, Military, and Industrial), while focusing on engine systems functional understanding, learning and validation through both analytical tools and data acquisition from testing.
Responsible and accountable for test and analysis plans and coordination, instrumentation requirements coordination, pre-test predictions, test procedure development & methods, on-site /remote test coverage, test data management and validation, first pass post-test data analysis and test reporting and documentation for all propulsion systems tests and functional validation.
Will lead TEA engine teams and technical projects. Develop leadership skills following the PW Leadership Operating Model. Mentor & help skill development of more junior members of the team.
Active participation in discipline improvement activities and knowledge management.
Requires daily interaction and integration work with EDSI Systems Analysis Groups, Module Centers, Controls, Instrumentation, IT and Product Validation Groups to ensure that the propulsion system satisfies its functional requirements. Travel, off-shift and weekend work are required when necessary.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Science or Technology
- 5+ years of prior relevant experience or a advance degree with 3+ years of related field experience
- US Citizenship required due to government contracts.
- Able to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance.
- Previous experience in the test environment or engine data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Results and customer focus, teamwork, communication skills, analytical thinking, adaptability, and continuous learning are key competencies.
- Five years experience with project planning, risk assessment and mitigation, probabilistic analysis, and root cause analysis in the product test environment. Includes test planning, instrumentation requirements, pre-test predictions, on-site test coverage, test data management and validation. Two year experience with test data analysis, test reporting and test conclusions.
- Proficient in teamwork with other groups in the organization. Together these groups plan, schedule and conduct tests in support of the development and certification/qualification of all engine models.
