Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney Puerto Rico is seeking a seasoned Aero Thermal Fluids Engineering professional, working under minimal direction. Designs, develops, and tests power plants, aircraft, and parts, formulates conceptual design of certain products, and develops advanced models. Performs system level analyses and prepares technical reports. Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal direction, designs, develops, and tests a variety of power plants, aircraft, systems, and/or parts.

  • Formulates conceptual design of aeronautical or aerospace products or systems to meet customer requirements.

  • Develops advanced mathematical models or other methods of computer analysis to develop, evaluate, or modify design, according to customer engineering requirements.

  • Performs system / component level analyses of test results and uses the results to prepare technical reports of findings and recommendations.

  • Execute complex thermal analysis via 2D and 3D finite element analysis (FEA) and/or complex CFD analysis, using the latest P&W Engineering Standard Work, analytical tools, and engineering judgement.

  • With some direction, creates and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization.

  • Communicate technical results to internal and external customers.

  • Travel is up to 10%.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • 5+ years of engineering experience or an Advanced Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering + 3 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • English fluency (verbal and written)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD and ANSYS to perform Finite Element Analysis for Thermal Analysis, engine datamatching, component lifing.

  • Experience with FLUENT, or similar tool, for CFD analysis and Ensight for post-processing.

  • Experience as an integrator leading role

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills

  • Team oriented and cultural awareness

  • Experience mentoring and coaching entry-level engineers

  • Innovative and continuous improvement oriented

  • Experience with programming tools (PYTHON, Microsoft Office Macros, ANSYS Macros, MATLAB) is a plus
