Job Summary:
The Effector Power Department supports key Raytheon products, by providing mission-critical designs relating to power conversion, motor controls, flight termination systems, telemetry, and other analog domains.
We are looking for junior to mid-level engineers who have control electronics knowledge to help design robust control systems for important national defense products.

The position is for the Tucson, AZ and is a hybrid role.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document control electronics (and related analog) circuitry. This circuitry will dominantly involve motor drive, sensor interface, and controller circuits. Main emphasis is on board-mounted control end use applications.

Assist in architecting at the circuit card level.

Help to see circuit card development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.

Drive to meet schedule concerns. Define schedules for circuit level tasking.

Guide ECAD drafters through layout and routing activities, with moderate support from senior engineers. Assist in layer stackup definition.

Function as an individual contributor. Understand the role of a small team lead.

Engage in personal technical growth.
-
Clearly present your work product to functional and program leadership.
Qualifications You Must Have:
-
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced STEM degree with 3 years of prior relevant experience.

Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with controls and driving one or more of the following motor types: Brushed, BLDC or PMSM.
-
Experience with analog electronics design, including at least one of the following: FET/BJT logic level, op-amp, high/low/band pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits.

Experience utilizing specifications used to drive design decisions.
-
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:

Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineer preferred.

Experience with the ECAD process, and a conceptual understanding of the layout and routing concerns specific to control electronics.

Experience with designing at the circuit level to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality.
-
A conceptual familiarity with one or more of the following sensor types: magnetic encoders, resolvers, Hall sensors.

Experience conducting trade studies, and an awareness of how trade studies are used in control systems architecture definition.

A conceptual familiarity with EMI Filter design and analysis considerations in control electronics circuits.
-
Experience communicating and documenting technical topics at the small team level.
-
Exposure to digital control electronics design, analysis, simulation, and test. Includes familiarity with embedded systems architecture and firmware development for digital control systems.

Exposure to wide bandgap devices (SiC, GaN) in control electronics designs.
-
Exposure to circuit/system simulator SaberRD, and MATLAB Simulink. Knowledge of dSPACE is not required but desirable.

Exposure to Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx.

Exposure to acting as a liaison between program and functional management in a cross-matrixed organization.

Exposure to military specifications.
-
Exposure to design considerations for voltages > 100V.

Exposure to program management tools such as Earned Value.

Exposure to proposal development.
-
Self-starter, a quick learner, be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills. Should have an appreciation for how successful teams are structured.

Additional Information
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
