Job Summary:
The Sr. Design Engineer will conceptualize, design, integrate, and document mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design, mechanical analyses, and consistent coordination and communication across teams to ensure successful hardware performance. Application of design for manufacturing and assembly best practices will be a critical skill set to be successful in this position. This role may also include leading teams in the completion of above tasks. The primary work location will be on-site at the Raytheon Tucson office. Willingness to perform work in proprietary spaces may be required based on program assignment. Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Work with multi-disciplinary engineers to propose, design, develop, integrate, and document within the mechanical design department.

Communicate with cross-disciplined, diverse engineering team members and suppliers to design, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements

Work under limited supervision and act as the responsible design authority

This position can be filled as a Sr. Design Engineer or Principal Design Engineer depending on experience.

The ability to obtain and maintain a full US security clearance prior to the start date is required. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications You Must Have:
-
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and development preferably of defense-related components or systems.

Strong working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), basic tolerance analyses, drawing practices and interpretation (ASME Y-14.5) for mechanical hardware

Expertise in Computer-aided Design (CAD) experience in Creo Parametric and Windchill
Qualifications We Value:

Bachelors of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Engineering Science, Math, or other Engineering disciplines

8+ years of experience in mechanical design, development, and/or test, preferably of defense-related components or systems

Experience in airframe development, electronics packaging, mechanisms, for missiles or similar applications

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for technical analysis, data sorting/plotting, and technical documentation
