The role:

The Mobile Threat Training Emitter System (MTTES) program is delivering frontline Electronic Warfare (EW) training to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). This leading capability is looking to provide an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Cyber Security Analyst to utilise and build upon previous experience with implementing and managing security tools, and to ensure the efficacy of their application to the cyber security domain. The role, Senior Cyber Security Analyst, reports to the Chief Engineer and assists with organising members of the MTTES Cyber Security team. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage a small team of Cyber Security analysts that ensure the cyber security aspects of the program, maintain formal ATO accreditation and ensure future capability upgrades are delivered and integrated in a secure manner
  • Assist in design, implementation and continuous uplift of cyber security tooling, processes, and procedures;
  • Assist in the Engineering development and change process in relation to cyber assessment, recommendations, and advice on remediation;
  • Assist with risk management in alignment with the Information Security Manual (ISM), Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), and Defence specific guidance such as the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF);
  • Contribute to the assessment of hardware, firmware, software, and operating systems with regard to formal- security policy and procedures;
  • Maintain records and advise relevant persons of actions taken; and
  • Research, create and amend cyber security documentation in support of MTTES capabilities and individual systems, covering Engineering and Maintenance activities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Australian Citizen, able to gain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) NV1 security clearance. Appointment to this position is conditional on being granted and retaining the appropriate security clearances necessary to perform the duties of the role. 
  • Experience analysing and solving difficult to complex problems.
  • Experience with risk management frameworks.
  • Experience with security tooling such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR).
  • Industry recognised certification, CISSP, OSCP, CCNP Security, or similar.
  • Minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience.
  • Understanding of the Information Registered Assessor Program (IRAP) process.
  • University Degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Systems Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • Vulnerability management and/or Penetration testing.
  • Windows and Linux systems administration.

Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance as needed. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva
