Job Summary:
Cyber Offense and Defense Experts (CODEX) needs smart, motivated and self-driven CNO Developers and Vulnerability Researchers to join our team to solve real-time cyber challenges. We are looking for individuals who enjoy working on a mission-focused team that works very closely with our end users.
Applicants will join a high-performance development and reverse engineering team led by engineers who have worked in this space for over 10 years. This team provides software that is vital to successful operations for our customers, used by a highly technical userbase. In this position CNO developers implement and maintain custom software tools and techniques using C, C++, and Python. Developers will reverse engineer intermediate data representations, algorithms, network protocols and bytecode interpreters from closed source user and kernel mode binaries on Windows and POSIX systems.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Developers use insights from the reverse engineering process to model and develop tools that interact directly with target software via proprietary networking protocols
- Developers will invent novel techniques to improve the determinism of underlying target software
- Developers on this program join a team maintaining and developing software for a sizable active userbase of developers and engineers
- Our team will iterate on user experience design, documentation, and strategies to incorporate user feedback, and reverse engineering products directly into deliveries
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 3 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- At least 3 years of systems programming experience (e.g., Windows Native API, POSIX APIs) on Windows, OS X, or Linux, embedded, or network devices
- At least 3 years of programming experience in C & Python
- Experience with Multi-threaded programming, and socket usage
- Strong assembly knowledge (including at least x86 and x86_64)
- Use of GDB, WinDBG, OllyDbg, or Immunity debugger to debug closed source user mode binaries
- Source code control tools (git, Atlassian, or similar) and their usage
- Software design and architecture
- An active and in-scope Top Secret Required U.S. security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using static disassemblers (e.g., IDA Pro) and decompilers (e.g. HexRays, Ghidra)
- Knowledge and use of general network encryption protocols (e.g., SSL, TLS, etc.) and libraries
- Understanding of how vulnerabilities in Linux, Unix, OS X, and web applications function
- Experience with malware analysis and/or detection rule formats (Snort, Yara, etc.)
