Job Summary:
The Systems Engineering Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).
The Radar Software Product Line (RSPL) is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (Associate Director, Systems Engineering) to join the program. The Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) is an integral part of the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) and is the principal arbiter of Systems requirements and design for scope within RSPL. The LSE supports the Chief Engineer (CE) in the technical development of various capabilities and ensure technical execution and system compliance to contractual requirements. This position can be located in either Tewksbury or Marlborough, MA and may require occasional travel.
The RSPL LSE position requires advanced knowledge of radar software development and design processes in order to ensure successful implementation. Advanced knowledge of radar hardware architecture is desired. This includes advanced knowledge of RF system architecture including optimization of antenna size, transmit power, tracker processing, electronically steered antennas, digital receiver design, surveillance and air traffic control concepts of operations, in support of the various Product Line programs.

Responsibilities include:

Coordinates across SE, SW, and Test capabilities to ensure interface integrity and design cohesion, while working alongside the RSPL CE and Leadership team

Matures concepts into an optimal solution balancing performance against objectives and constraints; and supports the sell-off of the software product

Develops innovative solutions and prioritizing technical capabilities is an important part of the RSPL LSE's role, while working with the CE, Test Architect and Technical leadership of the various Product Line programs

Works with the CE to ensure technical execution and compliance to the customer requirements, for various programs that are part of RSPL.

The RSPL LSE as part of the OCE is responsible for supporting improvements to design, development, integration and sell-off processes in order to maximize the reuse and cost savings of the Sensor Product Line hardware and software products.

Works with both internal and external stakeholders to develop complex new capabilities and technologies

Works with various stakeholders to prioritize needs of each of the programs within RSPL where these programs are in various stages of technical development, while striving for commonality across programs.

Actively negotiate terms of entire proposals with the power to offer and accept compromise solutions on behalf of the organization

The RSPL LSE along with the CE is in constant communication with the technical leadership of various programs in maturing solutions and getting it to the field quickly (to support customer needs).

Guide and direct other engineering team leads to achieve program and technical success

Coordinate, write, and deliver technical presentations to both internal and external customers
Qualifications You Must Have:
-
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 12 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required.

Minimum of 12 years of experience in related Systems Engineering or Multi-Disciplined Engineering

Proven Experience effectively leading multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals
-
Experience leading teams and IPT’s, using tools and metrics in managing activities, and interfacing with senior program and functional management
-
Advanced knowledge of radar hardware architecture, software development and design processes
-
An active and in-scope DoD Secret security clearance
Qualifications We Value:

Self-starter – proactive in determining goals and objectives and pursuing the necessary course of action

Experience as a Lead Systems Engineer or Chief Engineer on previous programs

Experience with MS Windows operating system and MS Office products

Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings

Excellent communication skills with prior experience presenting to customers and senior leadership

Experience in schedule development, action item management, requirement change management and overall development and progress metrics

Working knowledge of the Raytheon Technologies’ products and services

Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience

Experience working with external customers; including USG, or FMS partners
-
EVMS Certified (or equivalent)

Proposal support experience including writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
-
Knowledge navigating the organization and working with stakeholders across the company to develop solutions to key program challenges

Familiarity with FMS and DCS Contracts

Manufacturing knowledge and/or experience
-
Import/ Export knowledge and/or experience

Technical leadership and guidance of multi-disciplined teams in the design and development of system requirements and design.
