Job Summary:

Raytheon Technologies is a leading provider of Electronic Warfare and Self Protect Systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced RF troubleshooting subject matter expert to join the fast paced and exciting Raytheon Self Protect Systems team located at our Goleta facility near beautiful Santa Barbara California.  

As an RF Troubleshooter, you’ll work independently to perform troubleshooting of customer field returned hardware. This includes using test stations and RF test equipment to troubleshoot circuit boards, MICs and other components.  The selected candidate will also provide feedback on the design of new hardware, design of specialized test equipment and development of specialized test procedures.

You’ll work with a senior technical support engineer to develop solutions to complex test problems and documented processes.  Additionally, you will work with technical leads, program manager and customers to provide repair status and participate in failure reporting and associated corrective actions.

This position is based in Goleta, CA and is posted as ONSITE.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Troubleshooting RF components
  • Operating test equipment
  • Documenting failures
  • Performing failure analysis
  • Troubleshooting computer signal processors
  • Analyzing engineering drawings
  • Ability to travel, work overtime and/or split shifts when required
  • May require ability to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs. to a height of 4.5 feet

This role may require occasional CONUS travel

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree and a minimum 5 years of relevant RF troubleshooting, computer signal processing or engineering experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
  • Experience using commercial test equipment to test and/or verify RF assemblies
  • Experience troubleshooting electronics at the component, board, assembly and/or system level with the ability to identify cause of failure and effect repair
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience reading, understanding and applying system, unit and assembly level Critical Item Development Specifications (CIDS), Acceptance Requirements (ARs) documents and Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs)
  • Experience with hardware including microprocessors, digital signal processors, digital interfaces and RF subsystems
  • proficiency using RF Microwave / Millimeter wave Synthesizers, Spectrum Analyzers, Digital Oscilloscopes, RF Power Meters, Waveform Generators, or Logic Analyzers) 
  • RMSS team leadership experience with oversight of schedules and budgets
  • Knowledge of military specifications and environments
  • Experience documenting and maintaining parts failure databases
  • Previous experience performing testing and troubleshooting of U.S. military systems
  • Experience with system integration
  • Familiarity with Testability requirements and/or BIT architecture
  • Knowledge of environmental test equipment and requirements (vibration and temperature)
  • Strong organization, problem solving, time management and communications skills; detailed oriented. This includes, but is not limited to, the ability to effectively coordinate multiple resources, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and work under limited supervision.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 176,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
