Job Summary:

Raytheon’s Airborne Multi-mission Electronics Center is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to work onsite in Goleta, CA on Electronic Warfare (EW) electronics product development for defense applications.  The role includes design, analysis, validation, test, and support of digital, analog, and power conversion circuits for Electronic Warfare & Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) products & subsystems, and as needed leading project teams in these roles.  Occasional travel (10-20%) may be required to other Raytheon facilities and customer sites.

  • This position is an onsite role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Carry out assigned circuit design independently.
  • To work with digital team and define the signals between RF/microwave and digital interface and verify the quality of conversion of analog to digital and digital to analog signals.
  • Create and verify the behavior model in circuit/system design.
  • Create and maintain documentation for the related project work and may improve the design flow.
  • Develops and validates requirements for various Antenna Feed and Passive Microwave Components.
  • Develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical Feed and Passive Microwave Components.

A PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this position.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience in Engineering/other technical positions.
  • Requires analog and mixed signal integrated circuit design experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ABET is the preferred, although not required accreditation standard.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Microwave/RF system, subsystem and component analysis, design and test.
  • Hands-on experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition and analytical tools such as Matlab.
  • Background designing and testing analog CCAs (Circuit Card Assemblies [circuit boards]), including frequency conversion, automatic gain control, amplifier design and analog filter design.
  • Experience in electrical interconnects and transmission line design
  • Understanding of EMI analysis and mitigation techniques
  • Propensity for learning through self-study and being comfortable in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Specialized experience in Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC).
  • Microwave Power Amplifier Design.
  • Strong academic background that includes courses in: Microwave Engineering, Microwave Systems, Electromagnetic Theory and Radar Systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with microwave testing techniques, including using spectrum analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) and Performance Network Analyzer (PNAs)

Location Information:

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 176,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
