Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is the primary quality interface between Raytheon’s organization and the external supply base.  The SQE provides both communication of requirements and performance feedback to suppliers as well as being a conduit for quality information back to internal functions within Raytheon. The SQE’s role includes execution of supplier assessments, problem resolution, meeting facilitation, and continuous improvement activities through APQP supplier engagements. In addition, the SQE is a key player in the facilitation and management of supplier risk mitigation, problem resolution, and development.  The SQE represents Raytheon professionally and supports RTX vision, values, strategy, and goals as our quality representative in the supply base.

Location Information:

The position primarily interfaces with the program team in the Tucson area in a hybrid work schedule. Some travel can be expected as part of this role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Interpreting purchase order (PO) quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/ supplier understanding.
  • Ensuring flow down of product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers through PO requirements and statement of work content. Ensuring compliance with these quality requirements.
  • Assessing subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectives.
  • Identifying supplier risk and systemic performance issues ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plans.
  • Driving continuous product/ process improvements using statistical / analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and lean methodologies.
  • Application of APQP processes related to supplier performance and implementation of necessary engagements to improve supplier manufacturing processes.
  • Working with other quality functions and cross business teams to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communication skills.
  • Participating in supplier design, process change, qualification test, and procedure reviews.
  • Supporting supplier assessments, audits, and reviews.

Required Skills:

  • 5 years’ experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).
  • Experience working with one or more of the following aerospace or commercial equivalent preventative tools - SPC, FMEA, QFD, PPAP Previous experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following standards: ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9145, or MDA Assurance Provisions.
  • Experience in drawing interpretation and hardware inspection techniques
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Six Sigma, Lean, and/or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)
  • Proven successes in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers/ customers.
  • Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test, and delivery.
  • Experience in engineering, development, project planning, and collaborating remotely.
  • General statistical process control knowledge, including implementation.
  • General knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
  • Strong technical engineer with excellent communication skills that exhibits presence and influence and self-managed technical contributor.
