Collins Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Product Support Engineer. We’re looking for a passionate professional to accept a high level of responsibility within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite in Rockford, IL.
This position is eligible for relocation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide manufacturing and product support engineering for the mechanical designs of legacy and current production ram air turbines, RATs.
- Provide hardware analysis, engineering development and qualification testing of RATs for aerospace applications which include air driven self-governing turbines, angle gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, and linear hydraulic actuators with integrated locking/release mechanisms.
- Investigate electro-mechanical and hydro-mechanical hardware failures to determine the root cause.
- Integration of the mechanical components into RAT system that produce hydraulic or electric power.
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Experience in mechanical rotating hardware analysis
- Experience resolving hardware manufacturing, operating, and test related issues
- Experience in performing product and component development and qualification testing, including performance and environmental
- Understanding of electric machines and rotating mechanical hardware
