Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our site in Rockford, Illinois as a Product Support Engineer. As the Product Support Engineer, you will work closely with a dynamic, multi-disciplined technical team to contribute to the design, development, production, test equipment, and field support, of aircraft engine mounted generators, auxiliary generators, and aircraft mounted motors.
The Product Support Engineer must have a track record of innovative mechanical design capability, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and experience supporting assembly and testing.
As a Product Support Engineer, you will play a crucial role in fostering collaboration between the design engineering team, manufacturing engineering, Operations, and suppliers to meet on time delivery, first time test yield, cost targets, and enhancing reliability.
Candidates should demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. Aggressively search for alternative solutions when legacy solutions are not adequate; establish trust and credibility in relating to others; demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and work well with all levels of the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Support/Lead root cause corrective action (RRCA) investigations of Assembly and Test rejects and customer returns
-
Support repair facilities in RRCA investigations for field returns
-
Validation testing of defined corrective actions.
-
Implementation of corrective actions
-
Production support related to supplier or plant site issues including manufacturing process issues/development, obsolesce, or quality issues.

Provide technical and programmatic communication with management, suppliers, customers, and members of the technical design team in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Strong communication (written & verbal), leadership and computer skills required.

Candidate must be an outgoing, self-directed, highly motivated, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
-
Background with engineering drawings and 3D design software is preferred.

Product knowledge and background in mechanical and electrical aerospace equipment.

In depth knowledge of manufacturing processes including assembly, test, paint & wire, outline inspection.

Ability to work with production plant sites and other suppliers.
