Product Engineering Supervisor - Terminals

Summary:

The North America Connection Systems Team has an exciting opportunity for a Product Engineering Supervisor in Warren, OH at our Champion Technical Center location.  The successful candidate will lead a Terminal portfolio team and contribute to new product development.  The Product Engineering Supervisor will support engineering initiatives in the region. 

Responsibilities:

  • Review initial product requirements and validate information for new design opportunities
  • Define and execute a plan to deliver initial concept, 3D evaluation, simulation, bench test, etc. to provide a concept to quote that has identified risks along with a plan to mitigate risks
  • Support technical review conversations with the customer and support engineering discussions that will position Connection Systems as a preferred source for our customer base
  • Set the plan and monitor execution through the design phase providing engineering guidance on simulation, DFM, DFMEA, setting design direction and providing guidance through the robustness process
  • Monitor execution to the PDP plan by overseeing execution of suppliers and tool shops to deliver parts on time
  • Communicate risks identified through this phase, as well as, monitor and provide problem solving guidance for validation issues or customer provided feedback
  • Monitor and track performance of several key metrics involving execution to plan, design quality metrics, MCIP and other engineering initiatives

Must Haves (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience in various components, system design knowledge on FEA, Moldflow tools, basic statistics, GD&T DFM and AIAG core tools
  • 1+ years’ experience using various OEM specifications
  • 3+ years knowledge and experience in connection systems, as well as, manufacturing processes including: molding, stamping and plastic component assembly
  • 1+ years’ experience and knowledge of the automotive industry standards (IATF AIAG)

Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Management
  • Leadership experience within the automotive industry
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams across various regions
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, etc.), NX, TeamCenter, Minitab, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently
  • Resourcefully innovate and adapt in a rapidly changing environment
