Role Overview:
Collins is seeking for a Manufacturing Engineer with Electrical Engineering background to provide onsite support at our Cheshire, CT facility. This position will be responsible for the process engineering support of manufacturing electromechanical products dedicated to a production environment. The primary roles are monitoring and maintaining production yields by troubleshooting, evaluating, and resolving technical complex issues affecting process, tooling, materials, or test equipment. Responsibilities also include assisting in designing and developing manufacturing processes for products in full rate production and for transitioning new products from design and development to full rate production.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support and Optimize manufacturing processes in multiple production areas as:
- Troubleshoot and solve production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation
- Make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials
- Develop and support tooling for existing and new products
- SAP Work Order, Routing, and BOM management
- Develop RCCA and failure analysis reports to senior engineering to supports business health metrics
- Electro-Mechanical Failure analysis and troubleshooting
- Maintain and Enhance process documentation to current and new process change configurations.
- Support TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) processes with industry standard and special process equipment such as Laser Weld, Vacuum Furnace, Digital Xray, etc
- Ability to fabricate electronic circuit boards into a working test station
- Continuously drive improvement in areas of yield, quality cost, schedule, and productivity applying quality tools such as Six Sigma, ACE, etc
- Conduct process measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables, such as SPC, Gage R&R, etc
- Ensure EH&S compliance
- Experienced with professional and technical customer and government relationship
- Capable of analyzing, configuring, code/unit test, and system software integration
- Support Design and Quality Engineering changes as required
- Assist with Capital Expenditure research and justification
- Participate in the design and layout of machines within plant facilities to ensure more efficient and productive layout
- May propose the sequence of operations and installations and supports in specifying procedures for fabrication of tools and equipment and other processes which may include disassembly/assembly and repairs, to ensure efficiency and optimize performance
- Hands-on work driven mindset and willingness to multitask
- This candidate must be able to work independently
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering discipline degree with 4+ years of experience working within small electromechanical or gyroscope similar assembly/products
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Software such as MS Word, MS Excel/Macro, MS PPT, etc
- Some Experience with Final Acceptance Test Equipment (i.e. Multi-Axis Rate Table and Vibration Heads and Environment Stress Systems)
- ERP experience such as SAP, Oracle, etc
- Related Mechanical/Electrical Process Engineering experience
- RCCA tool practice such as Six Sigma and ACE
- Multitask mentality
