Manufacturing Engineering:

Function Description:  Comprehends Product, Process and Business requirement, and uses this for Supplier identification and development. Supports delivery of First articles at right time. Ensures robustness of processes and adequacy of capacity to maintain trouble free deliveries of right product on time every time.

Discipline level description:

  • Interacts with Suppliers to trouble shoot production and quality issues.
  • Supports strategic sourcing team in supplier identification and supplier assessment.
  • Guides suppliers in understanding product and process requirements and supports them in new product development.
  • Monitors supplier performance in terms of production capability, stability and capacity.

Organization level description:

  • Should have good understanding of Aerospace Manufacturing and Quality requirements.
  • Should have good knowledge of various manufacturing processes. Knowledge of sheet metal forming & fabrications, metal forming and casting processes, metal joining processes and Special processes like Heat treatment, Electroplating processes, and NDT processes desirable.
  • Should possess initiative and drive.
  • Should have good understanding of requirements of related supply chain roles.
  • Should be a Good team player and Communicator.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Graduate Engineers in Mechanical/Metallurgical stream.
  • Minimum 12 to 15 years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of CNC programming and machining operations. Knowledge of material forming, Forgings & castings, sheet metal fabrication, NDT technique and special processes desirable.
  • Should have good understanding of PPAP and APQP requirements.
  • Should be conversant with Process capability study procedures.
  • Should have good knowledge of Statistical Quality control techniques, Control plans, Process sheets, Process flow diagrams, FMEA, defect analysis & prevention methods and GD&T.
  • Knowledge of various inspection methods & equipment desirable.
  • Knowledge of Fixtures &jigs  concepts and cutting tools desirable.
  • Should have a good understanding of Capacity utilization computation methods.
  • Should have good knowledge of engineering drawing study and should be able to study and interpret different specification documents and standards.
