Job Summary:

We have an exciting for a motivated Principal Systems Engineer - Space Ground Systems to join our team and work in a collaborative, iterative development environment. 

In this role, you will work with an amazing team of highly skilled System and Software Engineers who are leading the industry in Ground System Solutions Programs.  These Programs provide development, integration, operations and sustainment for next generation, cutting-edge satellite ground software. 

At Raytheon, our Systems Engineers provide technical direction and clarification of requirements to software development teams & test personnel, perform system engineering analyses including trade studies, algorithm development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. They also support definition of operations concepts and procedure planning / development, interface with personnel from other organizations, and represent the program at technical interchange meetings.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Developing and maintaining Requirements, Algorithm Description Documents and User Manuals
  • Performing functional decomposition of requirements to meet system and domain level needs
  • Participating in system engineering artifact reviews
  • Conducting performance analyses, risk analyses, and trade studies
  • Defining external and internal interfaces Managing and maintaining assigned documents in accordance with established systems engineering and configuration management procedures
  • Providing clarification of requirements to the software development team
  • Supporting the team in preparation and conduct of program reviews
  • Completing assigned tasks to meet program schedule milestones

Work Location: This position is an onsite role at our Aurora, CO campus

Security Clearance Required: An active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Security Clearance is required prior to start date.  U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Basic Qualifications (Required): 

  • Systems Engineering experience on a large government software development contract
  • Experience in technical baseline administration
  • Experience in development of test architecture/framework
  • Experience in Systems Engineering process development and deployment
  • Experience working in an Agile or DevOps development environment, being part of a highly integrated team working closely with Software, Integration and Verification teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Satellite Command/Control, Mission Management or Flight Dynamics domain
  • Understanding of automation techniques
  • Experience with Matlab
  • Experience working with requirements in DOORS or other requirements database
  • Experience working in a multi-discipline environment
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages
  • Experience with Jira / Confluence Education and Experience Requirements: 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Technology, Engineering, or related Technical field with minimum 8+ years' relevant or equivalent experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations - OR
  • Advanced Degree in Technology, Engineering, or related Technical field with minimum 6+ years' relevant or equivalent experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

The salary range for this role is 94,000 USD - 196,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
