Our strategic unit with Collins, Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS), provides advanced information management systems, products and services that enable the connected aviation ecosystem by bringing together Collins’ unique breadth of aviation products with our smart digital solutions to help us enhance every aspect of the end-to-end travel experience. The Network and Connectivity Engineering (NCE) Team within CAS Engineering has the responsibility Air Traffic Control and Airline operational data on a secure, high-availability communication system between aircraft and their airline hosts systems and Civil Aviation Authorities. This worldwide communication system consists of diverse technologies including RF, private WAN networking, Network Management, Data Analytics, Embedded Communication Protocols, Mobility management algorithms, and High Availability/Disaster Recovery solutions. Over the next 5 years the GlobaLink Team, working in a highly hybrid collaborative environment that fosters employee engagement and teamwork, will be engineering the modernization and overhaul of the world’s largest Air-to-Ground airline operation and air traffic communication system.
We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support our aviation communication development needs. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible to support teams and programs for systems engineering design, analysis, planning, implementation, troubleshooting and enhancements with respect to the GLOBALink system.
From system requirements determine the appropriate systems and prepare design review material for the review team. Our Linux based software is "the heart" of a mission critical aviation communications network where protocols and high availability are integral to the software development. This is an ideal role for anyone who enjoys leading systems solutions and/or is interested in a leadership role in in the future. YOU will play a pivotal role in this high growth and high visibility area of the Collins Aerospace company.

You will analyze statement of need and business requirements

You will lead highly technical engineering teams on challenging RF focused projects

You will develop RF test procedures

You will evaluate communications equipment

You will provide analysis for the decomposition of customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements

You will perform analysis of data flows and data logs

You will analyze the performance of the system against established systems performance parameters such as latency, availability, and capacity

You will develop technical product roadmaps depicting the steps anticipated to migrate from the current state to the targeted future state

Complex systems typically involved multiple servers, interfaces, networks, and databases. Experience with full life-cycle - development, test, implementation, and long-term support.
Education & Experience:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

Experience with the management of the configuration process, functional analysis, timeline analysis, operational scenarios, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
Skills we value:

Experience with VHF and HF RF technologies

Experience with lab and field test equipment and methodologies to evaluate radios and communications devices

Aerospace knowledge and experience. Firm knowledge in advanced digital signal processing techniques as they apply to software-defined radio development

Experience with analyzing and report results from various RF modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, SIMULINK, LabVIEW, etc.)

Proven communication and collaboration skills to work with counter parts in IMS, Government Systems, and Commercial Systems and across the engineering groups in CANS Engineering
