Our Department-22, Advanced Concepts and Technologies (ACT), Advanced Electro Optical (AEO) Section is seeking committed engineers and scientists who are passionate about creating innovative and cost-effective solutions.

We have an immediate career opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in McKinney, TX.  The AEO engineering team designs and integrates optical sensors into unique automated systems to perform research and development for our customer in fielded environments.  This Principal Engineer will execute all aspects of the systems engineering discipline, to include system design, build, integration and test, mentoring/training, deployment and sustainment activities. You will additionally perform engineering activities such as: developing system test requirements; planning, execution, and analysis in support of system integration and verification; hardware-in-the-loop testing; technical support for deployed sensor systems.

** CONUS/OCONUS travel to support demonstrations and customer tests may be required.

Required Skills:

Minimum 8 years of related engineering experience in areas of Electronic / Mechanical / Hardware systems design, build, integration and test, preferably in the EO/IR area.

Experience conducting system and image performance analyses and developing technical performance risk mitigation strategies as well as generating detailed systems design and configuration management documentation.

Detailed electrical design of cross-platform systems, subsystems and components across multiple communications protocols.

Experience with low-level programing in both Windows and Linux environments for embedded systems utilizing FPGAs, microcontrollers or PLCs. Programming examples include: MATLAB, C/C+, Python, etc..

Experience with Hardware and device interfaces such as Ethernet (TCP/IP, UDP, more); Video, GPS and others.

Requires agility in addressing impromptu customer requirement changes, or resolving urgent issues.

Existing & Active Secret Clearance is required on Day-1. Must be eligible for  Top Secret/SCI with CI Polygraph. 

 Desired Skills:

Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo or Rhapsody.

Writing or executing Acceptance Test procedures or  Quality Validation Plans (QVP).

Highly skilled in use of Black Magic Video devices for image capture and video generation for HWIL testing.

Skilled in DOORS, SMPTE video,  

Microsoft Office applications, to include MS Visio and MS Project

Experience working in cross discipline teams

Design of electro-mechanical automated system for harsh environments such as MTS products

CAD experience with software such as PTC Creo (Pro-E) or SolidWorks

System design in classified environments

Ability to analyze issues and define solutions

Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance

Ability to assemble, troubleshoot, and repair electronic systems, utilizing electronic test and measurement equipment

Master’s degree in Engineering, or related STEM degree

Required Education:

8 years' of relevant experience and a BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics; or 6 years' of relevant experience with a MS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics

Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

May have broad knowledge of project management. Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or

systems in order to provide enhancements within job area. Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years

prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a

minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
