Needle movers wanted! We are standing up a new organization within Collins Aerospace, focused on Defense Strategy & Analysis. We are looking for a strategic thinker who can connect dots and make recommendations based on data and evidence. 

The Principal Specialist, Strategic Planner will join the Defense Strategy & Analysis group which is a central function within the Collins Aerospace Strategic Development organization. The Strategic Analysis and Development team influences the long-term vision of Collins Aerospace. Working together with teams across the company, we focus on strategic planning and analysis, market and industry outlook and forecasts, competitive intelligence and mergers and acquisitions as well as help the organization make decisions about future strategies by providing foundational data and analyses to support strategic planning and decision making.

This individual will work 100% remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collects and analyzes robust market datasets to include U.S. Defense budget documents, third party sources, and public, open domain information

  • Supports strategic analyses projects, market forecasting efforts, and special topics related to defense and government segments

  • Supports international strategy development with qualitative and quantitative environmental landscape analysis

  • Responsible for managing and leading a subset of market forecasting analyses, focused on specific segments

  • Manages the monthly vehicle production forecast in collaboration with internal subject matter experts across Collins

  • Tracks and monitor updates from key partners/OEMs in the defense market and how it may impact timing and health of opportunities and program

  • Maintains a strong understanding federal budget and procurement process to help drive insights from legislative, procurement, and geopolitical updates

  • Publishes a weekly news summary for internal customers

  • Maintains database access and dashboard development for the team

  • Works collaboratively across Collins Aerospace Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Raytheon Technologies corporate teams to improve analysis and help drive alignment across the organization

  • Lead the preparation and development of analyses in PowerPoint and other mediums to provide strategic planning information for Collins executive leadership team and Strategic Business Units

  • Support international strategy development with market forecasts, and analysis of the customer and peer landscape

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience 

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract 

  • Must be willing and able to travel 15% of the time (domestic and international)

  • 2+ years prior experience in the Aerospace Industry

  • Prior experience with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-LOOKUPS)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in Tableau or Power BI

  • Experience working with and managing market data, segmentation, and forecasting

  • Understanding of defense markets, procurement, and budgeting process

  • Experience analyzing international market and industry landscape

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
