Job Summary:

Raytheon, located in Richardson, TX (Cityline), is looking for a candidate to join our world-class Software Engineering team as a Release Train Engineer (RTE). The candidate must be able to work from within the Raytheon facility in Richardson, TX. The Release Train Engineer (RTE) will be responsible for supporting the program Solutions Train Engineer (STE) and Business Owners (Program Manager, Chief Engineer and Technical Director) in managing the Agile Release Train’s (ART) processes and execution.  The RTE will be responsible for facilitating the ART’s events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value.  RTE’s communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement.  

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Collect, Aggregate, and Analyze ART level metrics
  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART and Solution Train using various tools, such as the Program and Solution Kanbans and other information radiators
  • Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events
  • Facilitate the PI planning event
  • Summarize Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency
  • Assist tracking the execution of features and capabilities
  • Facilitate periodic synchronization events, including the ART sync at the Essential Level
  • Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary\
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
  • Help manage risks and dependencies
  • Escalate and track impediments
  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
  • Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline
  • Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle
  • Work with the Agile Program Management Office (APMO) on program execution and operational excellence (see Lean Portfolio Management)
  • Understand and operate within Lean Budgets and ensure adherence to Guardrails
  • Facilitate System Demos and Solution Demos
  • Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the ART and Solution Train and help them improve
  • Foster Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practice​

Clearance Requirements:

A Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior, relevant experience, OR an advanced STEM degree and 6+ years of prior, relevant experience.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience as a Scrum Master or equivalent leadership experience

  • Experience with agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAFe 5 certification  (SPC, RTE, PO, SM)
  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM)
  • 10+ years of experience in software development
