Our Joint Battlespace Systems business is building its modelling and simulation capabilities to support the needs of current and future Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) projects. Those projects will be delivering to the Commonwealth advance battle management capabilities to meet Australian’s challenging IAMD needs.

The Modelling & Simulation (M&S) Engineer will provide M&S support to our projects in the conduct of Operational Analysis and evaluation of system design alternatives. The M&S Engineer will assist with the definition of the M&S approach, design the models and associated algorithms needed, transform those models into an executable code that is compatible with the client’s M&S framework, and use those models to produce the analysis outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with clients to analyse their needs and define M&S requirements
  • Design simulation models and define the associated mathematical algorithms
  • Develop the software to turn M&S designs into executable models compatible with the simulation framework
  • Work collaboratively with the client in using the simulation framework and developed simulation models to conduct operational analysis in the IAMD domain

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Requires a University Degree in Engineering related discipline that provides relevant skills
  • Strong understanding of physics and mathematics that underpins the understanding of physical processes such as missile flight or sensor detection
  • Experienced in use of M&S tools to conduct analysis of physical processes
  • Skills in software development in a modern high level such as Java or Python
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to solve complex problems
