Job Summary:

In the Principal Signals Software Engineering role, you will design, develop, optimize, and test systems using models to successfully satisfy the customer mission for our satellite ground systems team.  We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Signals Software Engineer with a focus on radio frequencies, Fourier and digital signals processing to join our Satellite Ground System Team.

Location: This is an onsite position in either State College, PA or Annapolis Junction, MD.

Clearance requirements: This position requires an active and transferable TS/SCI Full Scope Polly (FSP) U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate signal processing software with satellite ground systems.
  • Develop and implement algorithms for signal processing, including Fourier transforms, digital signal processing, and RF signal processing.
  • Analyze and optimize signal processing algorithms for improved performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to signal processing software.
  • Lead one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any project.
  • Follow established Software processes and procedures, development, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts and requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) years’ experience as a Signals Software Engineer (SSWE) or equivalent on a project with a focus on Radio Frequency (RF) to include experience with Fourier transforms, filtering, communications theory, digital modulation, error control coding, signals analysis tools (e.g., Wigner-Ville transform (WVT), DVT), and digital signal processing (e.g., adaptive beamforming/ filtering, demodulation).
  • Experience in software development, with a focus on signal processing, radio frequencies, and Fourier analysis.
  • Software and system-level debugging experience including the ability to identify problems in established code and make modifications as necessary.
  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of software engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with software defined radio architectures
  • Experience in programming languages such as Java, C, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with satellite communication systems and ground systems.
  • Experience with commercial wireless standards
  • Experience with geolocation techniques
  • Experience with software configuration management
  • Experience with Python and Matlab
