This position is for an experienced ProLine Fusion Systems technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) with direct experience in designing, building, integrating and verifying ProLine Fusion avionics systems to engage with the Avionics Advanced Technology Sandbox Organization.
The Avionics Advanced Technology Development Sandbox team is chartered with defining new disruptive developmental process improvements for the Avionics business unit to enable faster cycle times, lower total lifecycle cost, reduce tech debt and enable greater reusability.
As the organization prepares for single-pilot operations (SPO), the need for rapid robust scenario-based testing of our systems is needed. The “Million Hour Scenario” (MHS) project combines the concepts of ontologies, modeling, scenario-generation, automated systems tests, and highly scaled cloud compute environments to conduct a Million Hours of systems testing in 2-weeks of wall-clock time.
This is an onsite position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Relocation assistance may be available.
Primary Responsibilities:

Technically create, own, and lead the development of the design for a multi-national multi-disciplined team to develop a next-generation solution for robust machine-generated scenario testing of avionics systems

Engage with Technical Fellows, and Product teams to understand current pain points in the verification ecosystem.

Responsible for the technical roadmap, technical design, guiding the team to adhere to the technical approach of Scenario Generation + Systems Test Automation research vectors.

Drive teams with focus ranging from early minimum viable prototypes to scalable high-fidelity evaluations as concepts mature towards transition.

Outbrief the technical capability and project performance to the business units and team leadership on a regular basis.

Collaborate with product design teams, Digital Technology, Enterprise Digital Engineering organizations, and the Engineering tools organizations to enable adoption and transition of developed techniques.

Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

- Strong Systems engineering skills including design, development and debugging.
- Direct systems experience on multiple ProLine Fusion Systems development efforts is an absolute MUST.
- Proven execution skills in leading the development of complex systems.
- Demonstrated positive engineering technical results on complex programs.
- Ability to communicate clearly to large audiences.
- Passion or Experience in at least a subset of the following: Ontologies, Computer Vision, Data Telemetry, Modeling, Cloud Computing, Automated Test, Scenario Generation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with scenario definition tools or languages (ODD, ASDL, OpenSCENARIO, Ansys, Scenic)
- Flight experience as a Commercial or Air Transport rated pilot
- Experience with development and integration of system virtualization environments, system simulations, or frameworks
