The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:
Role Overview:
Join this high impact team as a Principal Network Engineer (P3) to ensure the smooth operation of classified network infrastructure at our RTX location in Tucson, AZ. Relocation support is available for the selected applicant if they meet the company policy criteria. The installation, maintenance, support, and monitoring of the network infrastructure will be performed. Candidate must have a solid background supporting networks and have an eye for attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plans, evaluates, coordinates, and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.
- Technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
- Prepare or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions and inventory tracking.
- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
- Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment.
- Network designs that include selection of hardware and software packages
- Work with program engineers to help resolve networking problems in tactical environments.
- Assist in the overall performance and capability of technical team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience (Networking or Technology) or a master’s degree and minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience or in lieu of a bachelor’s degree minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience or associate degree and minimum 7 years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience in configuring networking for one or more of the following: storage, or backup, or data recovery systems.
- Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date, U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Obtain and utilize Certifications in Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Certification in at least one of the following – CEH, CFR, Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work with general supervision and follow established procedures.
- Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.
- Experience with current cabling and fiber standards
- Experience with firewall and access control list knowledge
- Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities
- Willingness and availability to work during afternoon and evenings as needed.
- Willingness and availability to travel domestically as needed.
- Experience with Scaled Agile Kanban and/or Scrum methodologies
- Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications
- Experience with telecommunication systems
- Ability to work under time constraints
- Experience with classified computing
- Certification in at least one of the following- CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP, GCIA, GCED, GCIH
- Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance
Education:
