Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Model Based Definition Engineer to play a key role in advancing the company’s capabilities for Model-Based Definition, Manufacturing, and Inspection (MBDMI). MBDMI requires robust interoperability solutions and validated data exchange across multiple frameworks to ensure a comprehensive digital thread. We are seeking a highly collaborative individual to assist in developing the tools and processes to ensure a robust MBDMI interoperability strategy for Engineering, Manufacturing, and Inspection. The MBDMI Tools team is part of the company-wide initiative to create new digital solutions that reimagine our core business processes so we can deliver world-class products faster and more efficiently than our competition. This position reports through the Engineering organization and has close ties with the Digital Technologies and Manufacturing organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute tactical tasks per the direction of the MBD Interoperability Strategic Lead to aid in developing and implementing a cross-functional strategy on consumption of digital product definition data elements in native and derived formats.
- Evaluate the maturity of the interoperable formats to support MBD data elements, assess the impact of maturity to the digital thread, and drive the identification and closure of risk mitigation steps where maturity gaps are identified.
- Conduct consumption testing of the product definition data elements.
- Work with software vendors in the evaluation, development, debugging, and evolution of software tools to support MBDMI goals.
- Coordinate with internal and external manufacturing users to understand their MBE digital maturity and support debugging and troubleshooting during their digital adoption.
- Create Engineering Standard Work and training material on the application of MBD to maximize machine readability and to comply with the latest industry standards for definition application and interpretation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (STEM related) and 8+ years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and 5+ years relevant experience. Relevant experience in the following areas: Experience with MB-Enterprise, MB-Definition, MB-Manufacturing, and MB-Inspection concepts; Experience with PLM, CAD, CAM, CAI, and MES (NX, Teamcenter Manufacturing, Teamcenter Quality); and Technical experience in the maturity of MBD interoperable file formats (STEP, QIF, JT, etc) are how each are best suited to support consumption into downstream frameworks (CAD, CAM, CAI, and other business process applications).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Travel up to 20% for onsite support at manufacturing sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
- Experience with Siemens Teamcenter Manufacturing and Teamcenter Quality.
- Familiarity with working in an Agile framework.

The salary range for this role is $94,000 - $196,000; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
