We are seeking experienced a Principal Linux Engineer to join our Engineering team. The qualified candidate will support the design, development, Integration, and maintenance of our modern infrastructure framework. The environments are a mix of servers, workstations, storage, networks, and custom hardware, providing the enterprise hybrid-cloud backbone for product development and testing for a large program producing a critical, strategic national asset. This will include a mixture of hands-on keyboard engineering work as well as documentation and baseline control.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have an engineering mindset, have the ability and willingness to lead small technical teams and be able to troubleshoot complex problems, seeking to understand virtualized design elements in a dynamic environment.
NOTE: This position will be based out of the Aurora CO site; but on-site support for the project will be required at the Schriever SFB Colorado Springs location.
Security Clearance requirements: The ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance at the TS/SCI level. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Required Skills:
- Experience with Linux system administration to include installation, creating RPM packages, performance tuning, user management, and security
- Leading small teams of System admins across the program locations supported.
- Automation experience
- VMware administration experience
- Experience troubleshooting complex systems involving multiple servers, COTS products, VMs, VDIs, and/or network issues
- Strong understanding of the implementation of Commercial Off the Shelf and Free Open-Source Software
- Understanding of hardware and software maintenance lifecycles
- Experience with desktop support, administering client/server applications
- Experience with Network engineering technologies such as Cisco, Juniper
- Experience with Enterprise level administration of common network services such as Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP, and DHCP
- Experience with Scripting (i.e., PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash)
- Experience with Anti-Virus, Symantec Endpoint, Clustering, OS Upgrades, computer security and system monitoring and logging
- Knowledge of scripting skills (i.e., PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash, etc.)
- Security Plus or CISSP within 90 days.
Desired Skills:
- Use of vSphere PowerCLI to manage virtual machines / virtual infrastructure.
- Experience with monitoring / optimizing performance of virtualized environments.
- Understand and apply enterprise design principles.
- Cloud Management and Automation (VCP6-CMA) VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) – Nice-to-have VMWare vCenter 6 VMWare Horizon 7.
- Storage experience

- Bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 8 + years' relevant related work experience

Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
May have broad knowledge of project management. Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or
systems in order to provide enhancements within job area. Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years
prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a
minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

The salary range for this role is 94,000 USD - 196,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
