Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney's Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) engineering module is seeking for a highly motivated Senior Structures Engineer. Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis of both Externals and Mechanical systems hardware through both preliminary & detailed design, validation, certification, and support of manufacturing and operational service.

  • Participate as the structure’s representative on multi-discipline integrated product teams providing design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight.

  • Validation test coverage (both engine and rig) consisting of live monitoring of instrumentation response relative to applicable limits, post processing test data, and evaluation of test data relative to program requirements.

  • Use FEA and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.

  • Typically viewed as subject-matter expert within discipline. Has advanced to expert knowledge of work area.

  • Minimal oversight from manager. Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower level professionals and influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures.

  • English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.

  • Travel is up to 10%.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering and 8 years of engineering or an Advanced Degree in Engineering with 5 years of engineering experience

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

  • 5 years of experience with software and programing languages APDL, Workbench, ABAQUS, PATRAN / NASTRAN, MATLAB, VBA, Python, C++, Fortran, MS Office, NX Teamcenter or SAP

  • 5 years with structural engineering experience with FEA and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, or damage tolerance.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
