Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Principal Dynamics Engineer who will provide support for the Aircraft Wheels & Brakes product line as it relates to managing the dynamic response to braking (friction induced vibration) and other sources of excitation due to product operation. This will include commercial and military product lines new product development supporting root cause investigation and design mitigation. In addition, you will interact with internal and external customers and collaborate with various global value stream groups.

Primary Responsibilities
- Create and validate dynamics models (modal analysis, stability assessment, transient analysis, etc.), using ANSYS Mechanical, LS-Dyna and other CAE tools.
- Determine the parameters of the dynamics related dynamometer test program for development and qual (ie: fixture design/settings, stop parameters, etc.). Provide testing oversight supporting data acquisition and analysis.
- Maintain tools (instrumentation, macros, scripts, etc) needed for Dynamics support across programs.
- Provide design recommendations based on model and test results to understand and improve dynamic response and resolve exceedances as required.
- Lead technology development efforts resulting in new CAE tools and experimental methods to better support the product line.
- Travel 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
- Communicate to Senior Level Leadership regarding brake dynamics items.
- Perform other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
- Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and typically a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and typically a minimum of 5 years of experience
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

- 2 or more years’ experience with Structural Dynamics, Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) and/or Friction Induced Vibration product development.
- Experience with CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) software
- Experience performing FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace experience with wheels and brakes
- Dynamics modeling proficiency (modal analysis and stability assessment) with CAE software platforms (ANSYS, LS-Dyna, etc.).
- Experience in testing setup, data acquisition and correlation of analytical results to test results.
- Experience in programming/scripting using MATLAB and Python.
