The North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) organization is responsible for engineering activities for hardware throughout the gas turbine including the Fan/Low Pressure Compressor, High Pressure Compressor, Combustor, Low Pressure Turbine, High Pressure turbine and Mechanical System modules across all of Pratt & Whitney's military and commercial products. NBEC is co-located with Pratt & Whitney’s largest manufacturing facility. This specific opportunity is focused providing support to North Berwick’s manufacturing operations as a part of the Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with North Berwick operations to ensure producible part designs and timely disposition of non-conforming material.
- Work closely with North Berwick raw material suppliers to ensure producible part designs and timely disposition of non-conforming material.
- Provide engineering liaison function for hardware that is designed outside of NBEC to North Berwick business units.
- Participate in Green Belt/Black Belt/Red-X Specialties projects to identify production challenges, and identify proposed solutions.
- Process engineering changes to improve part producibility, reduce cost, or improve hardware throughput.
- Participate in IPT meetings to transfer production learning into new designs.
- Assist in clearing Work-Stoppages/Escapes.
- Participate in MRL assessments to ensure production readiness.
- Ensure compliance to Pratt and Whitney's engineering process called Engineering Standard Work.
- Drive proposal development, risk mitigation planning, technology development, and associated documentation.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent experience and a minimum 7+ years’ prior relevant experience.
- US Citizenship required due to Government Contracts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in one of the following engineering disciplines: Design, Project Management, manufacturing, Quality Assurance or Analysis.
- Proven experience leading teams in the successful execution of tasks to meet technical, schedule and budget requirements.
- Previous experience executing hardware deliveries for rigs or modules.
- Six Sigma certification
- Capability to work and lead in collaboration with other non-collocated teams.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles.
- The ability to craft clear communication.
- This position will be onsite in our North Berwick, Maine facility. Occasional travel 10%-20% may be required.

What is my role type?
In addition to transforming the future of flight, we are also transforming how and where we work. We’ve introduced role types to help you understand how you will operate in our blended work environment. This role is:
Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. This means that responsibilities of the job need to be performed onsite on a regular basis.
Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
