We are seeking a Principal Agile Product Owner to work onsite in Sterling, VA.

Note: This position is contingent on a contract award.

As an Agile Product Owner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our products and services. You will be responsible for ensuring successful completion of SW development resulting in product that has completed Software Integration Testing and is ready to proceed to formal validation. You will collaborate with cross-functional team, working with Product Management, Architecture, Software, and other stakeholders to define, prioritize, and validate completion of the product vision.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Product Ownership: Act as the primary point of contact for the product, responsible for defining, prioritizing, and maintaining the Software product backlog.

  • Vision and Strategy: Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.

  • Prioritization: Prioritize features and user stories based on business value, customer feedback, and technical feasibility, ensuring the team works on high-priority items.

  • Requirements Gathering: Elicit and document product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to provide a clear understanding for development teams.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders, including business leaders, customers, and development teams, to ensure everyone is aligned with the product vision.

  • Agile Framework: Implement and champion the principles of the Agile process ensuring agile methodologies are followed.

  • Release Planning: Participate in release planning, including prioritization of features, sprint planning, and coordination of cross-team dependencies.

  • Metrics and Analysis: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the product and identify areas for improvement.

  • Product Delivery: Work closely with development teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality products on time.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Must have the ability to obtain a TS SCI clearance.

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of related work experience with 5+ years working in an elevated Agile role (Scrum Master, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, etc).

  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an agile environment.

  • Understanding of SW fundamentals and SW development lifecycle.

  • Experience with Requirements derivation and testing.

  • Demonstrated understanding of agile methodologies and the SAFe framework.

  • Exposure to JIRA.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and make data-driven decisions.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with agile management tools (e.g., JIRA)

  • SAFe Product Owner certification

  • Experience with DOORS Next Gen

  • Experience modeling in CAMEO
