WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Delivering JLR’s World Class products requires World Class test capabilities and to do this we need World Class Test Automation Engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and support JLR’s power train system and component test bed automation systems in the JLR power train test engineering centres.

 

The Advanced Automation Team develops testing capability for engines (ICE), full 4x4 powertrain PiL & ViL, EDU, E Machine, Inverter rigs and Chassis Dyno cells. This work includes integration of supporting test systems – such as application system, combustion measurement, electrical current & power measurement, automated calibration and simulation tools.

 

Integration of HiL tools (such as dSPACE) and Simulation tools (such as Simulink, Carmaker etc.) is a key activity in order to develop advanced capabilities to deliver vehicle tests on PiL & ViL rigs to drive down development times. You will support the test automation system specification and configuration which forms part of the JLR Global test system specification.

This role supports the daily operation of the Automation systems to deliver timely, quality data with the functionality required by the engineering teams. You will support day-day systems issues resolution and minor enhancements to maintain effective productive work. The role needs a high-level of flexibility and creative thinking to deliver solutions within tight timescales

As well as advanced developments the role also support system robustness, uptime and disaster recovery actions to maximise overall test facility availability.

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop new features to meet engineering requirements

  • Supporting the role of Lead Engineers, Advanced Systems

  • Support activities to ensure timely delivery of appropriate test systems configurations

  • Support activities to ensure effective test bed uptime to support Annual run time objectives

  • Support of Automation System Standardisation

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Knowledge of a test automation system in an automotive environment

  • Knowledge of automotive test instrumentation and systems

  • PLC automation or similar experience

  • Knowledge of physical test facility preparation and commissioning

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
