WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Join our team of next generation thinkers! The Test System Design team are a key service provider in Powertrain Test Operations within the Engineering Operations Department at JLR.

The team are responsible for integrating complex prototype systems into the physical test environment and provide System Designs to the operational teams and outsourced test partners that form the Powertrain Test Operations team within Engineering Operations at JLR. You will be responsible for developing test systems to enable the development, verification, and validation of JLRs future propulsion systems.

Your role will combine technical responsibility and delivery, along with the pastoral care of your team, being responsible for their wellbeing, training, development, and allocation to projects.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Be the main point of contact for our customers, liaising with key stakeholders to gather testing requirements and develop a detailed project forecast.

  • Collaborate with the Central Planning Team to understand facility plans and the impact on Test System Design

  • Use the forecasts and work with your peers to generate a resource plan that spans multiple squads and projects

  • Be a member of a squad responsible for decomposing test requirements in order to architect a system to support development and validation activities

  • Work in unison with the facility managers and lead operations engineers with the responsibility of handing over system designs for them to implement and operate

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Demonstrable experience as a competent leader, able to lead a team of engineers, developing complex systems in an Agile environment, ideally with experience implementing Scrum

  • Experience designing and/or validating electrified powertrains, and integrating complex systems

  • The ability to evaluate and appropriately challenge existing ideas, processes and ways of working to improve the team’s performance

  • Ability to accurately and concisely present and demystify complex technical ideas or project issues to a diverse audience

  • The ability to travel freely between JLR’s engineering sites and test partners
