Job Summary:
We are seeking a professional engineer to assume a key role within the Power Electronics and Controls department.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Design, analyze (including thermal considerations), simulate, and test power conversion circuitry potentially utilizing any standard power conversion topologies (linear, buck, boost, buck-boost), input and output filtering, analog circuits such as amplifiers, load switches, power on sequence circuits
- Design to requirements to meet system needs
- Work with technical subject matter experts to derive performance requirements
- Guide Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation
- Perform design work within the bounds of a given schedule
- Test performance of designs compared to requirements and analysis results
- Generate design artifacts/documentation regarding analysis and hardware performance
- Present reviews of technical data to program leadership and technical staff
- This is an ONSITE role.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or relevant degree
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of professional experience in design, analysis, simulation, and/or test experience with linear converters
- Experience with any of the following non-isolated converter topologies:
- Buck
- Boost
- Buck-boost
- Experience with design, analysis, and/or test with analog electronic design
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Design, analysis, and/or test experience with any of the following isolated converter topologies: flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, and/or push-pull. Design scope will ideally include stability
- Experience with performing circuit card assembly-level power architecture trades, and/or with system-level power architecture trades, including power converter specification development experience
- Experience designing motor drivers
- Professional experience guiding Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation (direct experience with such tools is adequate to fulfill this requirement)
- Familiarity with circuit simulator SIMPLIS and/or analysis tool Mathcad
- Experience with Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx
- Experience with acting as a liaison between program and functional management
- Experience with digital power control
- Experience with military specifications
- Experience with transformer and inductor design considerations
- Design experience with Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) concerns
- Design experience with voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW
- Experience with FET, BJT, and/or Op-amp circuits
- Experience with program management tools such as Earned Value
- Experience with proposal development
- Ability to design to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines, such as thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, and quality
- Ability to be a self-starter and be able to function in a dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and time management skills
