Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent discipline with 5 – 8 years’ experience in tooling technical support. Tooling graduation/post-graduation from GTTC or NTTF will be added advantage.
- We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our UTCIPL EPLM team providing services to Pratt and Whitney Canada as a Tooling Technical Support specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for providing essential technical expertise to tooling suppliers located in India to ensure timely delivery of tools with the highest level of quality. As a key member of our tool service EPLM team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our India tooling supply chain development.
- This person will be responsible for answering any questions on technical drawings that suppliers may have, as well as making occasional visits to the various factories to assist as a technical specialist in bringing and keeping suppliers to the highest standard of product delivery quality. This person may also be required to conduct local searches for potential new suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrate a deep understanding of aerospace/engine tooling technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes to effectively support suppliers in their development.
- Troubleshooting: Collaborate with supplier to identify and resolve technical issues related to tooling manufacturing to minimize delay and ensure quality. Answer supplier queries on technical drawings and producibility. Validate and provide missing dimensions where necessary.
- Tool Design collaboration: Communicate with tool design team to provide insights and recommendations for the design and optimization of aerospace tooling, considering factors like precision, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Process Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization, standardization, and cost reduction within the tooling department, leading to increased productivity and overall quality.
- Supply Chain management: Responsible for deliveries and handling problems with suppliers. Coordination of priorities. Selection of potential new suppliers.
- Quality Assurance: Supplier visits to maintain business relationships and validate quality standards. Ensure tooling meets industry standards, regulations, and specifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including tool services engineers, designers, and production personnel from other sites, to foster a cohesive and collaborative working environment.
- Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging aerospace tooling technologies and manufacturing process, industry trends, and advancements, and apply this knowledge to improve existing processes and introduce innovative solutions.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with tooling graduation/post-graduation from GTTC or NTTF will be added advantage. Advanced degrees are preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience: Proven experience in tooling design, development, or technical support role. Experience with CAD/CAM software, GD&T (ASME 14.5), stackup analysis, and CNC machining is highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read, understand technical drawings, sketches. Proficiency in materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards. Knowledge of composite materials and additive manufacturing is a plus. Ability to support Vendor qualification.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and address technical challenges effectively.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
- Team Player: Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to a positive work environment, and share knowledge with colleagues.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and manage multiple tasks concurrently.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years’ experience in supplier quality control, equipment or parts purchasing.
- Must be highly autonomous and able to work with minimal supervision.

- Required to work 9:00 AM to 18:00 PM IST TIME with an overlapping with EST shift
- May be requested to work overtime and weekends for special program needs.
