Summary

The Pratt & Whitney Columbus Engine Center has an immediate opening for an Operations Supervisor (M3) to join our Operations team.  This role will be based in Columbus, GA. and support second shift operations.

The principal duty of this role is to provide strategic and tactical leadership, supervision, and support to the business, ensuring smooth and efficient operations for Gate One areas.  This will require you to continually seek out opportunities to improve production processes and product quality using a variety of problem-solving techniques, effective interpersonal and communication skills, along with technical proficiency.

The person in this role will be relied upon to motivate, coach, and encourage employees to optimize career development and personal job satisfaction.  You will also promote excellent employee relations and empowerment of all assigned personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of assigned hourly workforce: (Time & attendance, time off, rewards, vouchering, training, communications, etc)

  • Define and Implement plans to support the objectives of the business including Quality, ACE and Financial Metrics.

  • Meet business metrics goals as defined for each cell (Cost, Quality, Delivery, EH&S).

  • Lead process improvement opportunities using ACE and Lean Strategies to enhance quality, decrease process cycle time and reduce operational costs.

  • Implement root-cause corrective actions in a timely manner to ensure quality standards are maintained.

  • Manage Capital and Expense Budgets for assigned cell.

  • Meet the schedule, plan and execute contingency plans.

  • Administer CEC’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance and equitable treatment for all employees.

  • Manage all aspects of assigned hourly workforce: (Time & attendance, time off, rewards, vouchering, training, communications, etc)

  • Ensure that all Operations employees have current development plans and performance reviews.

  • Coach employees to develop a motivated, effective team.

  • Demonstrates commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures, completing all required training, and supporting all applicable committee activities.

  • Conduct performance and skill review processes for Operations Technicians, Powerplant Mechanics, and Inspectors.

Pratt & Whitney Columbus, GA is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience in Logistics, Military, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Associate’s degree and 7+ years of relevant industry experience; OR an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate and 7+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in STEM field; Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering fields preferred.

  • Personnel management and leadership experience.

  • Knowledge of production control, supply chain and logistics.

  • Aftermarket Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry experience.

  • LEAN, Continuous Improvement, and/or CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma training and experience.

  • Experience working with Solumina MES, SAP ERP, and MS Office Suite.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve business goals.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management.
