Job Summary:

Join this high impact team as a Junior Network Engineer (P1) to ensure the smooth operation of classified network infrastructure at our Raytheon locations. The installation, maintenance, support, and monitoring of the network infrastructure will be performed. Candidate must have a solid background supporting networks. This role is onsite at our Tucson, AZ location. This role is not eligible for Relocation support.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Maintains smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plans, evaluates, coordinates, and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.
  • Develop technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  • Prepare or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
  • Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
  • Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance for network equipment.
  • Assist with design or a portion of network that includes selection of hardware and software packages.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree, OR an AS degree + 2 years’ experience, or in lieu of degree at least 4 Years’ related experience in Network Administration/Engineering, STEM, IT, or other technology-oriented position will be considered.
  • Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • A currently active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with general supervision and follow established procedures.
  • Experience with current cabling and fiber standards
  • Experience with firewall and access control list knowledge
  • Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities
  • Willingness and availability to work during afternoon and evenings as needed.
  • Willingness and availability to travel domestically as needed.
  • Certifications in Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.
  • Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications.
  • Experience with telecommunication systems
  • Ability to work under time constraints.
  • Experience with classified computing
  • Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance
