Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Multicraft Maintenance Tech. You will be responsible for safely performing maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair work on complex machine tools and other plant equipment, as well as plant electrical infrastructure and equipment electrical systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will also interact, collaborate, and resolve issues with all departments including operations and logistics.
Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
3rd Shift: Monday – Friday 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM EST
Primary Responsibilities:
- Receiving job assignment(s) and/or special instructions from supervisor. Escalate issues as required such as unresolved repairs, expected future breakdowns, part availability/obsolescence, safety issues, operator issues, etc.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of electrical safety, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, confined space, fall protection awareness, cardinal rules, JHA, and other safety standards.
- Maintain electrical equipment and associated components by performing appropriate diagnostic, troubleshooting, adjustment, repair, and preventive/predictive maintenance activities. Electrical work includes all voltages up to and including 480V.
- Responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and return-to-service of equipment and infrastructure including but not limited to articulating robots, CNC mills/lathes, paint systems, chemical processing lines, shot peen machines, test equipment, and grinders.
- Proactively maintain all facility areas in an acceptable state of functionality and appearance.
- Maintain plant machinery and equipment by performing appropriate diagnostic, troubleshooting, adjustment, repair, and preventive/predictive maintenance activities.
- Maintain PM tasks by notating on the PM and escalating inaccuracies, improvement, and inability to perform any task defined to the Maintenance Supervisor/Engineer.
- Use appropriate test equipment to analyze maintenance issues on production equipment.
- Build/fabricate/modify (including welding) as needed.
- Install and move machinery, equipment, utilities, and other items as directed by supervision.
- Must be able to operate PIVs such as forklifts, golf carts, scissor lifts, boom lifts.
- Report apparent equipment problems/malfunctions to supervisor.
- Must function well as part of a team or as an individual contributor while providing the required maintenance.
- Support to a 24/7 production schedule.
- Order materials and parts required to complete assignment(s) per process.
- Maintain work areas and machinery/equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.
- Clean-up work area after completion of assignment or shift change including equipment, tools, floor, and surrounded area impacted by the repair.
- Notify operator/area supervisor (per process) and maintenance supervisor upon completion of the assignment and status appropriately.
- Attend training classes, department meetings, and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Retrieve items from tool crib and complete forms/transactions as required.
- Turn in all removed parts per supervisor or per process.
- Provide detailed pass down on completed or in-process work to peers and supervisor per process.
- Maintain, update, and create documentation for equipment maintenance.
- Inspection of tools and equipment prior to use to ensure they are safe and adequate for the activity.
- Perform inspections and audits as directed.
- Perform General Maintenance activities.
- Additional functions based on qualifications obtained once in role.
- The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have minimum of five (5) years’ experience, or two (2) year post-secondary education in maintenance, and three (3) years’ experience, in a similar industrial environment which includes high voltage installation and troubleshooting, engineering, or related technical field.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
- Experience performing quality work in a safe and efficient manor while communicating effectively to the operators, supervisors, engineers, etc.
- Experience reading, understanding, and following written and verbal instructions, drawings (Electrical & Mechanical), equipment manuals, and other support documentation (process/technical).
- Experience utilizing basic mathematical skills to support calculations used in this type of work.
- Experience with CNC machining, electrical circuits and controls, PLC logic, automation, rigging, fabrication, lubrication, mechanical components and systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, plumbing, and tooling.
- Experience utilizing CMM (Computerized Maintenance Management) system to receive, complete, and document repairs/PMs/parts used to ensure a complete equipment history and service records.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Office- Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Certification in Project Management, HVAC, or Welding.
- Technical Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial, or Electrical engineering.
Candidates must pass required qualification tests.
May be required to supply own tools or use company provided tools.
