Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RIS) is seeking a Systems Security Engineer (SSE) to join the Embedded Secure Systems Engineering Department. This position is in a technical growth area and we need individuals who can apply their technical knowledge and experience to system security engineering and program protection concerns within the key areas of cybersecurity, anti-tamper, software assurance, and supply chain exploitation. The SSE will participate in the development of embedded security solutions, and will be responsible for executing the security efforts for secure system products. Activities will consist of developing security subsystem architecture and specifications, interface descriptions, RMF assessment and authorization, and vulnerability assessments.
 
The SSE must be able to work independently and as a member of a team in coordination with engineers in development, integration, test and modeling.  The SSE must exhibit a high degree of creativity and ingenuity, and will be responsible for developing advanced systems, security, integrity, and information assurance leveraging RMG and/or Anti-tamper guidelines and concepts.  The SSE must be able to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers, and will be required to brief senior company and customer leadership teams.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressive technical experience related to Embedded Systems/Software/Electrical/Computer Engineering, architecture, requirements, development, implementation, and testing
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing, testing, and fielding security solutions on real-time embedded products
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of secure systems technologies, methodologies, risk analysis, policies and guidelines
  • Proficiency in at least one embedded programming language such as C or C++
  • Experience with design/development/implementation in at least one of the following areas: Anti-Tamper (HW, SW, Systems), Cybersecurity, Software Assurance, Supply Chain Risk Management
  • Experience with Software Assurance methodologies and Secure Coding Standards to include CAPEC, CWEs, and CVEs
  • Ability to interact with customers to define: requirements, solutions, trades, costs, implementation, system impacts and effectiveness
  • Demonstrated experience developing top-level system requirements, and flow-down requirements and implementation concepts to subsystems
  • Experience interacting with customer representatives and external suppliers
  • Experience with COTS security technologies and trusted products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ACTIVE DoD Secret or higher security clearance on Day One of Employment
  • U.S. Citizen, as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in System Integrity, NSA Security design, or related field
  • Experience with cryptography and cryptographic applications
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Experience in DevOps and pipeline development
  • Experience with certification and accreditation of cryptographic, anti-tamper, and other security-related engineering products / systems
  • Experience performing reverse engineering
  • Experience with multi-level security solutions
  • Knowledge of security standards, methods, and policies; risk and threat analysis; technical security safeguards; and operational security measures.
  • Familiarity with Program Protection Plan (PPP) required by DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT or IASAE Level II or III certification

Required Education (including Major):

  • A Bachelor's degree is required. A STEM degree is typically required.
  • Advanced degree(s) preferred
