Summary:

Columbus Forge, a recognized leader in producing disks and airfoils for the aerospace propulsion market, is looking for a Metallurgical Engineer to support its organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Metallurgical Engineer will conduct testing and material investigations within the Columbus Forge manufacturing facility

  • The Metallurgical Engineer will serve as an issue resolution focal point that works with engineering, customer service support, and operations to drive continuous improvement in products and processes

  • Collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities; work with various quality issues related to internal non-conformances, product returns, supplier issues, customer complaints and corrective action requests with clear and concise reports to customers

  • Be available to work any & all shifts, including an alternate work week

  • Undergo and pass annual vision screening

  • Review engineering documentation to ensure it contains the necessary quality assurance and customer provisions and criteria

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, materials science or metallurgical environment or an Associate's degree and 4 or more years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, materials science or metallurgical environment or in lieu of a degree, 6 or more years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, materials science or metallurgical environment

  • Experience working with internal and external customer requirements to resolve findings

  • Understand and interpret engineering technical data to provide guidance to cross functional teams

  • Knowledge of document control and calibration systems; query data from database systems

  • Experience interpreting manufacturing drawings

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Metallurgy or Engineering
