The role is based at Wolverhampton, and this is the home of Actuation Systems at Collins Aerospace. Actuation Systems are the leading experts in fly-by-wire, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic actuation design, Collins Aerospace offers a complete line of actuation products that enhance aircraft performance and reduce pilot workload.

After completing a robust recruitment process our apprentices will be supported to embark on their career journey, throughout which they will receive a highly competitive remuneration and flexible benefits package.

You will spend your first year attending In-Comm Training Centre in Telford where you will spend time learning basic engineering skills in Mechanical Engineering.

For the remaining time you will work at on site at Wolverhampton whilst undertaking invaluable work experience, where you will learn the basic principles and under pinning knowledge needed for your career.

You will learn:

- To understand engineering schematics and technical documentation.

- To understand pneumatic, hydraulic & mechanical drawings & systems

- Carry out system diagnosis

- Carry out repairs and modifications

- To become capable of performing a multi skilled role when required.

- To apply the most safe, efficient, and effective methods available to keep key machinery available for production.

- to liaise with external service and parts providers.

- To assist in Root Cause Analysis of Breakdowns & identify improvement opportunities.

We are looking for high calibre students who:

  • Have achieved a minimum of Grade 5 (or equivalent) or above in Maths, English and Science.
  • Brilliant communicators with a wide range of audiences.
  • Super organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Passion to work in aerospace and a real desire to make a difference to our customers and our business
  • Demonstrates a passion for hands on engineering
  • Problem solving.
  • Competent in the use of a wide variety of measuring equipment.
  • Strong IT skills working with Microsoft tools and computerised systems.
  • Understanding of Lean principles.
