Mechanical Engineering Taam Manager

Lead project teams of mechanical engineers in automotive electronics for Aptiv’s Compute&ECU department.    

Your Role:

  • Manage mechanical engineering teams assigned to customer projects to complete design analysis and support per customer requirements, implement the HW platform, complete the mechanical analysis/support and design, verify prototypes per requirements, and ensure all validation testing is completed successfully.
  • Lead mechanical engineers to engage with suppliers throughout the supplier selection process, tool development process, and manufacturing verification with tooled components
  • Ensure successful execution of customer projects and internal mechanical projects
  • Provide management-level interface to internal and external customers to avoid concern escalation
  • Coach team leads on design decisions that impact Aptiv technology and cost
  • Manage mechanical resource and capital budget for mechanical engineering teams
  • Align with HW platform team regarding changes necessary for application of customer requirements
  • Conduct change management for customer requirements or design issues that impact material cost
  • Lead teams to use structured problem-solving methods and implement systemic prevent recurrence when design issues occur in development or validation
  • Lead teams to ensure quality of design is maintained via peer design reviews and cross-functional design reviews
  • Ensure manufacturing team is aligned with design proposal from engineering team; ensure the design meets the requirements for cost-effective, high quality, and lean manufacturing
  • Ensure purchasing team is aligned with any design changes and proposed component selection
  • Lead talent and skills development of mechanical engineering groups
  • Prepare staffing planning, which would be based on the knowledge of business requirements, newly won contracts, product roadmap, as well as deep understanding of current staffing levels, skillsets, and existing retention risks
  • Have a deep understanding of team’s work (with particular focus on direct team members)
  • Enable teams to adopt new HW processes for ASPICE and Agile methods

Your Background:

  • Bachelor, Master or PhD degree in Engineering
  • Several years of professional experience in an international company, preferably in the mechanical automotive sector or electronics industry
  • Over 5 years of team lead experience, preferably in the mechanical division
  • Strong focus on interpersonal skills – willingness to develop
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to solve problems - creativity
  • Fluency in English
