Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer for a technology development and mission support program. This position supports the Cybersecurity, Intelligence, and Services (CIS) product line. The engineer will contribute to efforts by developing innovative engineering solutions from concept development through mission execution. Many of these efforts require solving the client’s challenges in new or different ways that involve the application of theoretical and practical engineering to achieve success.
The engineer will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to identify and develop innovative and practical solutions. The candidate must possess a positive attitude, initiative, strong problem-solving skills, and dedication to execute the program’s development and mission support efforts. The candidate will have excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of mechanical engineering disciplines to ensure the application of technical rigor and best practices throughout project lifecycles. This position includes responsibilities for understanding and developing design requirements, generating test plans, engineering analyses, and testing. The engineer will create and update designs, prepare fabrication drawings, coordinate with vendors, develop technical procedures, and prepare and deliver design reviews.
Required Qualifications:
Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance
M.S. or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum two (2) years of prior relevant experience
Experience or coursework with CAD software package for mechanical design and documentation (SolidWorks preferred)
Fundamental engineering skills including mechanics of materials, statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
Experience with test planning, reports, and/or procedure documentation
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficient with MS Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, collaborative team environment balancing often widely different project tasks and types
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to travel to temporary assignments outside of the greater Washington DC Metropolitan area. Travel <10%.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with electro-mechanical systems, automation/robotics, and sensors
Coursework in Finite Element Analysis and Mechanics of Materials
Experience with engineering data analysis tools such as Matlab and Mathcad
Passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
Working knowledge of hand and powered tools
Product development experience using rapid, iterative design and prototyping with frequent integration/test cycles
Experience designing for and using additive manufacturing

The following position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team:
Requires theoretical to advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through University Degree combined with experience. Practical knowledge of RTX projects, programs
or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior
relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
