What does the role look like?
As a member of the Materials Engineering Team, you will be involved in activities related to find alternatives to materials and chemicals following obsolescence or supply chain issues. You will participate in supporting the team in analyzing special process deviations by understanding the possible effects on product requirements. The team will also work on the restriction of the use of specific hazardous substances, which may be part of a chemical product or process that affects aerospace product requirements, working on the creation of a database of substances and components.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborate with Materials Engineering Team to find equivalent materials or to manage technical issues on materials by consulting international standards and handbooks
- Preparation of reports describing the tests performed and the results obtained using technical language and English
- Search for dangerous substances through safety data sheets relating to different legislations in chemical products already in use and in new one
- Preparation of documents in accordance with Customer request through the identification of substances used in galvanic and painting processes for each platform including interfacing with other Departments such as Program Management
- Preparation of complete reports listing the components on which alternative treatments will be applicable
- Collaborate with the engineers of the materials team in following tests on materials in collaboration with the Metallurgical Laboratory
- Collaborate with Stress Analysis Team and External Laboratory to characterize new material.
What will you bring to the role?
Desirable skills:
- Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s Degree with relevant experience as support) in Materials Engineering/Science or Chemical Engineering/Chemistry
- 2 year of relevant experience, with a preference for aerospace industry
- Knowledge of metals such as steels and aluminum alloys
- Knowledge of heat and surface treatments of materials and familiarity of Chemical Products (i.e. paint, sealant, adhesive)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office™ tools
- Ability to collect and analyze data and test results, writing technical reports (both in Italian and English)
- Knowledge of REACh regulation
- Base Knowledge of Additive Manufacturing Process
- Familiarity with SAP
