    Job: Manufacturing Operator (Thermal Spray)

    Shift: 3rd shift, (5x8) 11:30pm-7:00am

    Key Responsibilities:

    Under the direction of supervision or working leader you will work from verbal, written or computer-generated instructions to perform pre-coating operations. Operations include surface preparation and masking duties. Responsibilities include applying coatings using a variety of equipment and media, as well as running test pieces to find acceptability of parts and coating equipment set up. You will need to have knowledge of shop mathematics and read work instructions. You will use micrometers to check work and adjust where necessary to maintain quality. Perform post coating tasks such as removing parts from fixtures, removing masking, troubleshooting, and diagnosing malfunctioning equipment. You will perform minor repairs on coating equipment where applicable. These repairs include but are not limited to the following:

    Working from quality review and corrective work documents, or other similar instructions, to rework or repair coated parts, adapting existing or modified tooling, methods and techniques as required.

    Assisting engineers and others in developing new or changed operations.

    Making recommendations for changing and improving operating parameters and processes.

    Working with team members to modify, install and repair coating equipment in assigned area.

    Performing routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions (such as operator’s checklist for upkeep) to assure equipment operates properly.

    Referring any difficulties to leader or supervisor.

    You are required to be flexible around shifts, including overtime, for training and to maintain workflow. We look for responsibility to handle multiple significant priorities at a time. You may be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals’ skills.

    Basic Qualifications:

    0-1 years of related experience, or a completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field with 0-1+years related experience.

    High School or GED

    U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience with metal finishing methods, spray coating/paint application, machining, grinding, and/or welding.

    Experience with computerized machine operation.

    Experience with precision measuring instruments such as feeler gauges, verniers, calipers and micrometers.

    Knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions

    Understand and follow oral and written instructions concerning work methods and procedures.

    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

    Basic computer skills

    Flexibility around shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime.

    Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.

    Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

    What is my role type?

    Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

    Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
