WHAT TO EXPECT

Identification, leadership and management of research and technology development projects, ensuring that all deliverables are achieved within time and budget constraints. Projects will often be delivered with support from external agencies such as Universities and Research & Technology organisations as well as internal resources.



Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

•    Leadership of cross functional teams, including line responsibility for Engineers, Graduates or apprentice resources as required to support the growth of the department.

•    Ensuring that all new technology opportunities are robustly evaluated at key stages during the technology creation and management process.

•    Contribute to the creation of Advanced Technology strategy and Business plans, including the creation, development and approval of Manufacturing Engineering Technology roadmaps

•    Develop internal and external networks and become a primary new technology interface for Product Development, research and academic organisations.

•    Create and maintain a database of benchmarked technologies to inform Trim & Final strategic and tactical assessments.

•    Provide support to the Production Engineering teams and other Engineering Specialists to ensure effective handover of technologies during the appropriate technology project phase.

•    Contribution to the definition & creation of, departmental and functional standards and processes.

•    During and following a technology project, will liaise with the relevant stakeholders to identify the optimum method of increasing corporate learning, skills and competence.

•    Identify and investigate opportunities for external funding whilst ensuring internal JLR Governance processes are met.



WHAT YOU'LL NEED

•    Ideally will have worked within a Trim & Final process engineering role

•    Will be comfortable in an environment where knowledge is not always available and must be developed in a timely and cost effective fashion. 

•    Candidate must have a record of proactive delivery and commitment to meeting deadlines including previous projects and budgetary management experience.

•    Ability to lead groups both within and external to JLR, and to work as part of a team is essential, as is the ability to achieve results by meeting deliverables and commitments.

•    Ability to communicate at all levels via written reports or presentations will be required.
