Summary:
Columbus Forge, a recognized leader in producing disks and airfoils for the aerospace propulsion market, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer II, Tool Designer to support our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design fixtures, gages, and tooling to support manufacturing process for compressor airfoils; ensure all designs are high in quality and accurate
-
Assist manufacturing engineering team in project development and investigations related to tooling
-
Utilize CAD software, specifically Siemens NX to prepare tooling designs and blueprints; evaluate tooling builds for internal build or outsourcing to tooling vendor; interact with tooling vendors
-
Interact with manufacturing engineering team on design changes or specifications to ensure effective product design and implementation
-
Maintain continuous process improvement with safe work practices to reduce cost, improve quality and increase throughput for new and existing processes; maintain tooling blueprint storage location in accordance with company policy and procedures

Provide shop floor support and assist with the Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process; support and/or participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) events and CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence) activities
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations or quality environment, or an Associate's degree 4 or more years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations or quality environment, or in lieu of a degree, 6 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations or quality environment

Experience working on cross-functional projects
-
Experience with 3D modeling/drafting software (Siemens NX preferred)
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
-
Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred

2 or more years of experience as a tool designer

Apply and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

Green Belt Certified
