Collins Aerospace is looking for an Maintenance Mechanic III who is responsible for supporting a variety of maintenance operations including equipment, electrical, and plumbing repair.

Job Description

  • Performs maintenance service and general support duties requiring a high degree of initiative and personal judgment in diagnosing problems, identifies corrective action, scope of task, selections of work methods, and researches necessary information and equipment to accomplish the task. Completes required preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Performs installations, methodical troubleshooting, problem solving, tear down, repair, re-assembly and test, fabrication and/or replacement of worn or broken parts of factory equipment and facilities in accordance with OSHA, NFPA, and/or established shop practices.
  • Provides support of air compressors, boilers and HVAC systems (Closed loop systems).
  • Installs, diagnosis, and repairs of electrical 120VAC, 240 VAC, 480VAC, single and three phase systems with a variety of test equipment, i.e. digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Performs plumbing activities to the standard threaded pipe practices as well as PVC and sweated copper connections requiring the use of power threading machines, cement, and/or MAPP gas torch.
  • Performs external diagnostics, and repair as needed on multi-axis CNC controls (Fanuc) and PLC (Allen-Bradley, Delta Tau, etc.).
  • Performs checks on wastewater treatment facility for proper chemical balance and environmental compliance.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair on vacuum furnaces.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or AA/AS degree OR other 2-year post high school training with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of equipment and facilities.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • All qualified individuals must have the ability to bend, stoop, stand, kneel for 8+ hours per day and lift 50+ lbs. repetitively
  • Ability to pass respiratory medical certification
  • Ability to learn PLC and CNC diagnostic and repair.
  • Ability to wear PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toed safety shoes)
  • Knowledge of basic computer software (word and excel).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations including geometry, decimals, and fractions Ability to work at heights, with chemicals and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • May be required to work 2nd shift during those two weeks during heavy production periods.

Bonus qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic wastewater treatment and use of pH, conductivity, and hardness testing equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of vacuum theory, technology, and application will be necessary in the maintenance of vacuum furnaces and is a plus.
  • Welding / Fabrication skills a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of basic PLC controls including the ability to program, perform basic external diagnostic and repair PLC controls.
  • Knowledge of CNC equipment
  • Basic machining experience.
